Dr Tolulope Ogundele is a dedicated academic and clinician. She is a Lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where she is actively engaged in teaching, research, and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees. She holds a Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) and a Master’s in Public Health from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She further enhanced her academic and clinical capacity with a Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Nutrition from Boston University and a Certificate in Leadership and Management in Health from the University of Washington.
Dr Ogundele is also a Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife (Wesley Guild Unit), providing specialised care for newborns and children, particularly preterm and high-risk neonates. Her international exposure includes observership training in Neonatology at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis; Children’s Minnesota Hospital, Minnesota; and the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. She is also a Fellow of the Open Medical Institute (OMI), Austria.
An active researcher, Dr Ogundele has published in both local and international peer-reviewed journals, with research interests in birth asphyxia, neonatal jaundice, prematurity, neonatal nutrition, and neonatal sepsis. She is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Nigerian Society of Neonatal Medicine (NISONM), Nigerian Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (NISPID), and the Newborn Brain Society (NBS), USA.
